Gut Riem - always worth another visit
The „Gut Riem“ on the outskirts of Munich is a farm where many animals are kept as ecologically as possible.
After a short refreshment we were allowed to help with the animals. However, we first had to throw ourselves into freshly washed blue overalls. The cows kept calling for us the whole time because they wanted to go out to the pasture. So we let them out together with Julia – the worker at Gut Riem – and could not believe how much fun little calves
can have with their mother cows on a pasture.
Afterwards we were allowed to feed the pigs. Some of us were brave and made contact with the little baby piglets. The others pulled juicy grass and clover for the rabbits. At the end Julia gave each of us a „purple rain“: it is a potato that is very purple inside and remains purple even after cooking. It was a great outing where we learned a lot. (Otto, Kraske)

Every year again! The reptile show
In the subject “Nature and Technology” we learn about plants, animals and the environment. Every year the students of the 6th grades marvel at the sight of lots of different reptiles, like snakes, tortoises, chameleons and bearded dragons, during the project week at the end of the school year. They learn interesting facts about the origin and habitat of the animals and are even allowed to touch and stroke some of them.

Class Olympics: Everything is better in a team!
In the Class Olympics all 5th grades of ORI can prove how well they work as a team. Five challanges have to be mastered together:
- rope skipping
- high ropes course
- egg race with table tennis balls
- life raft
- hauling mats
The ten fifth‑grade classes with more than 300 students must organise themselves and develop a successful strategy for each different task.
During the awards ceremony, the headteacher and the class representatives of the previous year’s top class present the travelling trophy. The trophy then adorns the classroom of the new top performer for one year.
The Class Olympics is always an exciting event with a lively atmosphere, where students and teachers work well together.

Sports Day and Dodgeball Tournament in Summer
Every year the 5th‑grade classes of the Orientierungsstufe showcase their athletic talent at the Bundesjugendspiele. Here many children have the opportunity to celebrate small successes in running, throwing and the the long jump – some even achieve their personal bests.
The summer Bundesjugendspiele are all about sportsmanship, fairness and respect. In addition to the three main disciplines, an exciting dodgeball tournament takes place, fostering team spirit and cooperation within the classes.
Will you be there next time as well?
